History of the group
The Champlain Community of Family Practices (CCoFP) was founded by Drs. Elizabeth Muggah and Kamila Premji in 2019, in response to the announcement of the Ontario Health Team process. Drs. Muggah and Premji, along with many other Family Physicians (FPs) in the Champlain region, recognized the need to bring local FPs together to speak with one voice at regional and provincial planning tables and support each other in their day-to-day work. The group is supported by the University of Ottawa Department of Family Medicine and the Ontario Medical Association District 8. After the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Champlain FPs eagerly sought new means to exchange information with local Public Health agencies, and the CCoFP proved to be an excellent forum for the exchange of such information. The CCoFP continues to address topics of interest to local FPs and assess regional issues related to family medicine.
